The Resume Toolset

Instructions
The CV Advantage Toolset’s detailed instructions describe the process, exercises, and how to use the examples. They are the same instructions we give to an executive when taking them through the $5,000 guided process.
The instructions provide detailed advice on how to approach each exercise.
The key to maximizing the value you get out of the CV Advantage process is to follow the instructions.
The main thing we tell executives who are about to go through the guided and self-guided process is, “Garbage in = Garbage out.”
Don’t cheat yourself out of the value you will get out of the CV Advantage process by trying to cut corners or circumvent the process. Follow the process exactly, and refer to and use all of the examples to ensure you stay on the right track.
Remember the whole reason you are investing time in going through the CV Advantage process is you are defining your unique career value proposition, which will ultimately lead to maximizing your exposure to the best possible career opportunities.

Omitting substantive quantified information from your resume can – only – hurt you.
Some executives actually operate under the false assumption that by leaving out quantified information they will be exposed to more opportunities.
When a resume lacks quantified substantive information, it is a judgment call on the part of the executive hiring authority or executive recruiter as to whether or not it is worth – risking – investing/wasting more time in trying to pull out basic information (which should have been in the resume) from a candidate via phone or email in order to incrementally assess qualifications and fit.
If a competing candidate’s resume – includes – this information, which resume do you think represents a more attractive candidate?
The CV Advantage Data & Metrics exercises help you reconstruct the quantifiable aspects for each step of your career.
This step in the process helps create the substantive raw material you will use to construct a concrete substantive career value proposition ultimately illustrated in your resume.
The key focus of this part of the process is to make sure you are quantifying as much as possible where possible.
Turn soft fluffy "Results" that are really nothing more than statements of expended effort into substantive meaningful hard business "Results" by ancoring the efforts against the respective quantified immediate or downstream business outcomes the efforts led to.

This is the most enriching exercise you will probably ever do in your entire career.

Because by the end of it you will not only know what your specific differentiated unique career value proposition is:
You’ll know how to articulate it
You’ll know how to evaluate it’s fit with roles you are evaluating
You’ll interview infinitely better than you've ever dreamed
You’ll also start evaluating others with a newfound ability to articulate what their unique value proposition is as well
This ultimately will enable you to identify critical gaps in a team's Capabilities & Attributes. You will be able to more consciously target and fill gaps when recruiting talent to round out the high performance teams – you – lead.
In the Date & Metrics step you reconstructed the quantified business results you drove.
In this step of the CV Advantage process you'll learn how to think of your accomplishments in the context of what Capabilities & Attributes you leveraged to achieve the quantified business results you drove. Quite simply, you will learn how to answer the question: – How did you do it?
Most resumes look and read like a bulletized data sheets – because they don’t even attempt to allude to someone’s Capabilities & Attributes.
Your unique Capabilities & Attributes combined with the substantive business results you've produced are ultimately what define your unique career value proposition.
So what exactly are examples of a Capabilities & Attributes you may have leveraged to drive a measurable business outcome?
Simply ask yourself:
How has your foresight or ability to "play the movie forward" driven your measurable success?
or
How has an ability to break down problems and construct logical solutions others are capable of implementing driven your measurable success?
If you can identify a - measurable - success and explain how one of the above statements drove the outcome, you just identified a Capability & Attribute.
